John Krasinski, Boys II Men, and A Happy Friday

Well this makes it official. John Krasinski and I are destined to be friends. Why you ask? Because I love to lip sync and Boyz II Men's I'll Make Love to You may be one of my favorite all time songs ever. Happy Friday everyone- you're welcome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EnsjrDsVyI&feature=player_detailpage

P.S. This is what happens when it gets rainy and I'm stuck inside. I find internet gems. And bake scones. More on the scones later...

happy (november) weekend!

my lovely sister and me (she and her boyfriend came to visit us last weekend which was awesome. We hadn't seen each other in 5 months!)

Hey everybody! I'm getting a really late start to this post, but wanted to drop by and let you know that my site may be down for a little bit because it's getting revamped! yay! I'm so excited to see how it looks and to share it with you all- especially since there are some really awesome new additions and products available.

In an attempt to not just sit and stare at my computer while everything loads, I've been working on projects I want to share in the next few months (anything in particular you'd like to learn about?) went to an Anthropologie crafting eventing this morning (my friend and I are now expert paper fringe tree makers,) went out to lunch (how had I never been to Nordstrom's Cafe?!) and proceeded to FaceTime with my sister for the past hour during which she showed off her new outfit and taught me how to make an old fashioned (fun fact: one lemon usually has 2 oz of juice-enough for 2 cocktails.) Given that tomorrow I'll spend most of the day working, I thought this was a nice kickoff to the weekend.

What about you all? Any big plans for your days off? (Or are you like me and will be working this weekend?) Whatever you do, I hope it's wonderful. See you back on Monday for the reveal (or this weekend if you follow me on twitter and instagram) as well as a new kim and courtney cook!

happy weekend!

I woke up this morning, threw on my sandals, and walked downstairs to take Bella outside. (That sounds way more energetic than it actually occurs. Go ahead an envision me clothed in an array of mismatched pajamas, still wearing glasses, and my hair kind styled into a "I tried for the bed head look, but ended up looking like I fought with my pillow look." Oh and it's always really bright outside so I'm squinting and kind of stumbling behind Bella. I'm a natural beauty, let me tell you. hah.)

Back to the point though. I opened the door and per usual, Bella ran past me to the grass. Only the grass was white. And cold. My bare toes started to sting as I realized I was standing in an inch of snow. Apparently sometime while we were sleeping, Denver was dusted with our first snow fall. And it was gorgeous. It's all melted away now, but it made me giddy with excitement for the cold days ahead. (Apparently it's snowing again tonight so maybe this time I'll remember to grab a jacket before I walk outside. Let's be real though, I'll probably forget and wander out in shorts.)

How's your weekend starting out? Did you wake up to snow or is it still hot where you live?

Happy (how is it almost October) Weekend!

I'm photographing some work today and trying to stay outside as much as possible, but before I sign off from the computer I wanted to share a few things I've enjoyed from the internets.

I always thought pencil shavings were pretty- but never this much fun.

I purposely try to avoid the food court because I can't easily pass up the pretzels. (darn you amazing butter smell.)

A beautiful way to look at life

gooollldd finnnger. (you have to sing that like the movie or it doesn't count)

And lastly, something that has nothing to do with the internet- I some how pulled my neck yesterday and can't turn it to the left, which leads to my making some awesomely creative moves in order to see that way (think driving.) Just wanted to share the visual because it's kind of hilarious. I feel like I'm walking around like Frankenstein and pretty sure anyone on my left hand side thinks I'm giving them the shaft/refusing to look at them. Promise I'm not.

happy (labor day) weekend!

via courtney khail

Labor Day weekend means a lot of things around here. First, it's J's birthday, it's also one of my best friends birthday's, and of course, it means summer is officially coming to a close. While it's always a little sad to see the long, warm days of summer become shorter and cooler, I'm actually a huge cold weather fan so I'm kind of excited. (Feel free to remind me of this when I complain about shoveling snow.) Also, fall means it's time for college football and I am beyond excited to kick off the season tomorrow. (Go dawgs!) But before I pull out the coats and scarves, I'm going to take a moment to soak in the last few days of summer by making ice cream, eating popsicles, dining outside, and wearing flowy dresses. What about y'all? Any big "end of summer" plans?

I'm getting back to spending more time in the kitchen and now I really want to make these and this. Apparently I'm in a pesto mood. (Then again, who doesn't love a good pesto?)

Finally found an art store that rivals the one I had back in Georgia. (Just in time too! I have some reordering to do.)

Fun pillow for the architecture lovers out there

We'll be spending a day stuffing our faces here this weekend

Coolest map (wonder if he traveled for the coins)

Have a great weekend everyone!

well holy cow, it's already Friday

and this is the first post I've done all week.

Sorry about that, guys. To be honest, it's just kind of been a whirlwind past few days (okay, more like weeks) and I feel like I am just now catching my breath. I'm also trying to focus on things I really want to do/launch, as opposed to getting bombarded with things that I think I should do. Example? Everywhere I look people are cleaning out their closets. After about 3 days of reading about it, seeing photos, etc, I thought "hey. I should do that!" Fast forward to me standing in front of my closet realizing that aside from shoes and accessories (I have a major weakness) my closet is pretty much only filled with pieces I love and wear. Okay, well there are two shirts that I don't wear, but one was the one I was wearing on J. and I's first unofficial date and the other is the sequin number that I want to wear, so I'm letting those slide.

Repeat this experience in the bathroom. I'm all excited to toss what I don't use and then as soon as I open the medicine cabinet, BAM. I use everything. You see, I have a strict, "no more than one" policy that keeps things at bay. I don't buy lotion/shampoo/conditioner/etc until I run out, and I try to only buy what I truly love/what works. (I also have fierce brand loyalty, which explains why my shelf in the medicine cabinet looks like a Kiehl's store exploded.)

That all said though, it kind of started to annoy me because I was in a purging mood.

So I took out the trash. Seriously. But hey, it really tidied up the corner where the trashcan goes! After that (disappointing) experience I made a promise to myself to take a step back from the internet and pretty much just turn it off when I stopped feeling inspired/had an uncharacteristic desire to paint the walls mint or something. It's been quite lovely to be honest (and I don't feel guilty about posting things I don't find to be super inspiring just to post that day.)

So what have I been up to while on my internet break? Well...

- I made friends with our contractor as he fixed our walls and ceilings. (they are finally done!!)

-We had a friend come stay the weekend with us

-Rented a jeep to go deeper into the mountains

-loved it and rented four wheelers to have even more fun

- hiked a total of 15ish miles (Colorado is so gorgeous)

-went to dinner with friends (and had a few date nights)

-and finally, we bought a car! Wasn't really planning on buying one that day (to insure you all that we aren't crazy, we were buying it in a week) but everything kind of just fell into place and next thing I know (that's a lie. it took hours.) we were driving home in our new car! Of course, because I'm an overly sentimental person I'm kind of sad I'll no longer have my jeep since I've had her since I was 16, my dad and I picked her out, it was the car I drove to college, yatta yatta yatta. See? Overly sentimental. I just keep telling myself that we did in fact need a more reliable/safe car and now someone else can have fun with her.

And now that I've rambled on for a while, what about you all? Any weekend plans/exciting purchases?

happy weekend!

J and me with my parents at Mt. Evans

On one hand, I can't believe it's Friday. On another, thank God it's the weekend. This past week (and 1/2) has been crazy and I'm finally getting back to work/playing catch up. My parents were visiting last week/this week, so I kind of just turned off the computer and spend some quality time with them. Fortunately, I have the schedule to be able to do that and I planned ahead so I wasn't worrying about deadlines. It was so wonderful getting to see them! Hopefully we didn't wear them out too much. We seriously packed a TON into 5 days...

In addition to that, we're still dealing with water damage and repairs. I'm actually sitting under a hole in the ceiling as I type this post (I'm just so happy the fans and dehumidifier are finally gone!) Kind of strange seeing how the builders "changed there minds" while they were drywalling, though. Apparently, there was going to be a beam across the living room and the office , but they decided against it last minute and lowered the ceiling instead. But only in one part. So strange.

Oh! And we got new Colorado numbers. That was a little surreal (in a good way.) And, big news for anyone who saw my phone before (J "lovingly" referred to it as the brick,) I got a new phone! Yes. It's true. I have finally entered this century and have a phone that I can email, tweet, instagram, navigate, etc. on. Bring on the distractions!

Anyhoo. Hope you all will forgive the lack of links today-haven't really be able to surf the internet. Promise I'll get back on track soon!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Any plans?

happy (its almost august) weekend!

It seems like every month I'm amazed that another month has flown by (and this month is no exception.) Any big plans this weekend? I'll be catching up on a lot of work I have to finish up, watching dragon boat races, and getting ready for my parents to come into town next weekend. Think I may have to tackle some magazine reading too because they are starting to take over. I know, I know. Poor Courtney. She needs to read magazines... But seriously. We're starting to look like hoarders over here.

I really think these are necessary somewhere in our house. I mean, who doesn't love clouds?

Our grocery store surprisingly has amazing pizza dough, but I think I'll keep this handy in case we ever run out.

The perfect slouchy white shirt.

Super simple textural type tutorial (say that 5 times fast.)

And lastly-despite having an ice cream maker- I really want to make this.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!
